Terrel Bernard, an American professional football linebacker who plays for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League, was single-handedly raised by his mother, Laura Spain Bernard, which eventually suggests that his parents parted ways earlier.
It’s been over two years since Terrel started his NFL career, and he has consistently been under the media gaze, but not even once has he mentioned his father publicly.
But yes, the NFL player has a close relationship with his mom, Laura, a registered nurse at the Pacific Northwest Trinity Group, and considers her his inspiration.
Terrel, in fact, is totally influenced by his mother’s principles. She was the one who taught Terrel the importance of education and dedication to achieving goals. During an exclusive talk with 7abc WKBW, Terrel Bernard said,
My mom instilled in me at a young age just how important academics were. That played a big part in going to Baylor and really focusing and graduating. That dedication and spending the time to be successful in that can translate to football and produce on the field.

Not only his mom but also his maternal grandparents played a significant role in his upbringing. They often showed their presence in his games to motivate and support him.
Terrel Bernard credits his maternal grandparents for his career in sports!
While growing up, Terrel Bernard never got to see his father around him, and his mother, Laura, was so occupied with her labor and delivery nurse job.
So, he used to spend most of his time around his maternal grandparents, Ronnie Spain and Brenda Spain. They built a familial environment for him and pushed him toward the sport from a young age.
While having an exclusive talk with The Athletic, Terrel said that his grandfather taught him ‘from the ground up,’ and his grandma motivated him by recording his game and pushing him to do better. In this regard, he once stated,
I was so involved and so interested in getting better when I was young “that my grandmother would sit in the stands and video my games just for fun. Even back in Little League, we would go home and watch these DVDs of the games as a family.

At the time, Terrell Bernard was totally unaware of which direction he was going, but that ultimately led him to a great NFL career. This is why he credits his grandparents for what he is today.
