Vincent Askew, a 58-year-old former professional basketball player who succeeded in earning the title of Most Valuable Player in the CBA in two successive years in 1990 and 1991, is claimed to be bankrupt.
On December 2, 2024, former basketball player Vernon Maxwell claimed so regarding Vincent’s financial condition, sharing a clip on his Instagram. Meanwhile, Maxwell said that Vincent owes him $10k, but he is not returning his money.
Former NBA player Vernon Maxwell calls out former player Vincent Askew:

“This n**** owe me $10,000.”

So, he publicly urged every other NBA player not to lend money to Vincent Askew. In the caption, he wrote,
All my Nba brothers do not loan Vincent Askew a motherf*cking dime he’s broke. He’s asking everybody for money. Don’t f*ck with him. He’s gonna be calling you like he did me and beat me out of money.

Well, if Maxwell’s assertion, by any chance, turns out to be true, then it won’t be wrong to say that Vincent Askew’s net worth is on the negative side.
The situation may have occurred because of Vincent’s inconsistent employment conditions after retiring from his playing career in the late ’90s.
Former basketball player Vincent Askew’s NBA career lasted for nine years!
After completing his collegiate basketball career at the University of Memphis in 1984, Vincent Askew entered the NBA, and the Philadelphia 76ers eventually selected him in the second round with the 39th overall pick.
However, his association with the 76ers ended within a year, and throughout his 12-year playing career, he kept popping in and out of the NBA.
To be precise, Vincent Askew played nine seasons for the NBA with eight different teams, including the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Seattle Supersonics, New Jersey Nets, and the Indiana Pacers.
Vincent didn’t play for each of the NBA teams for more than a year; however, his association with those teams appears to have earned him a decent amount of money.
According to Hoops Hype reports, Vincent Askew has accumulated more than five million dollars as an NBA player solely from his salary, suggesting his net worth was also in the millions.
However, it appears that his wealth declined over time, especially after he stopped playing basketball professionally. In the past few years, there’s no record of what Vincent is up to; his LinkedIn only suggests that he is retired from the NBA at AskewHoops.
