Zion Williamson, a 24-year-old American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelican, has been intrigued by body art since he got his first tattoo on his back a year ago, in 2023.
He received his first-ever tattoo that read ‘Mount Zion’ from the famous tattoo artist named Anthony Michaels. Later, during the media interaction, Zion revealed the significance of the design, saying,
Zion’s parents named him ‘Zion’ after Mount Zion, which has always held a huge significance in his life, so he decided to have it.
The NBA star further stated that when he reached out to the artist Anthony Michaels, he quickly understood the spiritual aspects of his drive to engrave ‘Mount Zion’ on his back and worked on fulfilling his desire.
Zion Williamson lastly stated, “The artist, myself, my mom, my grandmother, and friends and family … That what’s this tattoo’s for.” Some months later, Zion Williamson got another giant cross tattoo on his chest.
Zion Williamson recently got a giant tattoo on his back, but it rather invited criticism for not focusing on his physique!
On November 23, 2024, Zion Williamson’s tattoo artist, Anthony Michaels, uploaded a clip of Zion getting a full-back tattoo on his social media. But his giant tattoo didn’t captivate audiences.
Rather, they started backlashing him for not focusing on his game and physique, leaving comments like, “Dude doing everything except playing basketball lol,” “24 years old with a belly like that and you play professional basketball says a lot,” and many more.
But all the criticism doesn’t appear to affect Zion as he is continuously working on his body.
Last August, he shed 30 pounds and slimmed down to 281 pounds for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, it was said that his target was to be 272 pounds until the NBA regular season began.
