It’s been a decade since the current Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Julius Randle has continuously played in the NBA, but he has not mentioned his ethnicity in the public sphere, not even once.
His entire focus appears to be on excelling in basketball without getting distracted by his background. However, many speculate that Julius Randle is African-American by ethnicity.
Three years back, a reddit user named Ben Shapiro shared a post saying that NBA Reddit banned him for just calling Julius Randle a ‘thug.’ Meanwhile, Shapiro shared a screenshot of the NBA’s message, clearly stating that the Timberwolves star is a black guy.
The statement from NBA-reddit read,
Since you clearly don’t see what is wrong with calling an African American NBA player a thug, this ban is going to remain permanent.

Further, the 2010s Decennial U.S. Census data suggest that about 68.79% of people in America with the ‘Randall’ surname identify themselves as black.
Based on all this, there’s a higher chance that Julius Randall comes from an Afro-American ethnic background.
Julius Randle was raised singlehandedly by his mother, Carolyn Kyles!
While growing up, Julius Randall didn’t find his father, Matthew Randall, anywhere to be around him. It was his mother, Carolyn Kyles, who had full responsibility for raising him, and she did it with full courage.
As a single mother, she gave her son Julius a tough upbringing, considering the worst situation that each person has to face.
While having an exclusive talk with Courier Journal, Carolyn said,
I would push him around. He’d fall down and hop up all mad. I’d throw hook shots on him, and it would just kill him. I couldn’t feel guilty, because this was the position I was in. I had to be both mother and father. I couldn’t be weak. I had to be strong. I couldn’t baby him.

Carolyn further stated that she always wanted to ensure that her children grew up strong enough to fight for the things they wanted in their lives.
Well, it appears that she has succeeded in her goals, as her son Julius has achieved his dream of being an NBA player.
Julius has come a long way since beginning his NBA journey in 2014, earning several accolades, including three NBA All-Star appearances.
As a mother, Carolyn is absolutely proud of her son’s accomplishments over the years and often expresses her pride via her Instagram.
