However, in 2014, he decided to leave Boise State and join the University of Washington. In the first year, his salary was $375,000, higher than what he earned at Boise State University.
The following year, Jimmy earned a similar amount of $376,500. However, his salary significantly increased in 2016, when it jumped to $501,504.
Similarly, in 2017, his income rose to over $100,000, and he received $651,504.
However, this was nothing compared to his salary boost in 2018 and 2019, earning over $1.1 million and $1.4 million, respectively. Additionally, 2019 was his final year as an assistant coach as he was promoted to head coach in 2020.
During his first season as head coach, the team paid Jimmy over $2.9 million. Unfortunately, the University of Washington fired him in the next season despite paying him over $3 million that year.
Furthermore, they fired him without cause and had to pay him $9.9 million. Two years later, Jimmy joined the Atlanta Falcons as the defensive coordinator, for which he reportedly earns millions annually.
Jimmy Lake’s contract was terminated due to his poor performance and incidents of conflict with players!
The University of Washington kicked out Jimmy on November 14, 2021, because of his low performance on the team.
They further revealed that while they performed acceptably during the 2020 season, the 2021 season saw below-expectation results under his leadership. However, this was not the sole reason he was dismissed, as he also had off-field incidents.

During a game against Oregon on November 6, 2021, one of his players had an altercation with an opponent. Following this, the 48-year-old became furious and slapped his player before throwing him in the back.
As a result, the university decided to suspend Jimmy for a game while conducting an internal investigation. Additionally, he had also reportedly been physical with Quinten Pounds in 2019, showing this was not his first incident.
Similarly, one eyewitness revealed, “Lake comes in on just a complete rampage pretty much, picks up Quinten Pounds, and throws him into a locker. Those lockers there were wooden lockers, and it was violent. It really caught everyone by surprise.”
