Jalen Celestine, a talented basketball player for the Baylor Bears, is making his parents proud of his achievements at such a young age.
He recently scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, off the bench, leading Baylor to a 104-41 victory over Tarleton State.
With his remarkable performance, the young Bears star gained people’s attention and won the hearts of millions.
Talking about his parents, Jalen Celestine was born on December 20, 2001, in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, to father Curtis and mother Earlene Celestine.
Similarly, his father emigrated from Trinidad to Montreal as a child in the 1970s. He was a diehard soccer fan but soon developed a love and passion for basketball.
In an interview, Jalen’s father recalled his journey in basketball. He chose to play basketball because it was cheaper than other sports, including soccer and hockey.
Curtis also played through high school, landed a scholarship, moved to Toronto, and then played professionally.
He said, “Back in my day, our dream was really and truly NCAA if you could be lucky enough to get that.“
With his love and passion for sports, Curtis Celestine inspired his son Jalen to pursue his dreams in basketball and supported him in his career.
Like his father, Jalen’s mother, Earlene, is also his constant source of support; she is seen cheering her son in all his games.

Likewise, Curtis Celestine is a dedicated police constable of the Toronto Police Service, known for his strong engagement in community policing.
He currently holds the position of Black Liaison Officer, where he actively works to strengthen ties between law enforcement and diverse communities.
Beginning his career 12 years ago, he spent five years as a school resource officer and a stint as a neighborhood officer in the 55 Division before serving as a Black liaison officer.
Talking about Jalen’s mother, Earlene prefers to maintain a low life and hasn’t shared much about her profession.
Similarly, Jalen has a younger sister named Jade Celestine, who is also pursuing a career in sports.
Jade Celestine is a Canadian track and field athlete who competes in events such as the 60-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 100-meter hurdles, and 400-meter hurdles.
She previously represented Western Michigan University, and Akron attended Pickering High School.
Jade is currently listed on the 2025 Women’s Track and Field roster for Western Michigan.
