Andre Russell faced a doping ban in 2017 after being found guilty of a whereabouts violation under anti-doping regulations.
He was involved in substance abuse to enhance his performance while playing.
The violation stemmed from his failure to inform anti-doping authorities of his location for substance abuse testing on three occasions within 12 months in 2015.
According to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules, this is treated as a failed test.
In February 2017, the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) handed Russell a one-year ban.
It was effective from January 31, 2017, to January 30, 2018.
During this time, he was prohibited from participating in any form of cricket, including international, domestic, and franchise competitions.
