The unfortunate demise of Tommy Lazzaro has shifted fans’ focus on his personal life, including his wife and children, which he didn’t seem to have.
Tommy Lazzaro, a member of the 7th Special Forces Group, had an excellent sports career since high school. The deceased played for Pine Creek High School, leading the school to back-to-back victories.
He set the record in the Colorado State Championship in 2013-2014 for 3,340 yards passing. Lazzaro also had the highest number of touchdown passes as a three-year letter-winner.
Moreover, they gave him the nickname ‘Touchdown Tommy’ as he played 20 times for the Chippewas and helped them reach the MAC Championship Game in 2019 after an 8-6 season record.
The former quarterback followed his passion for over four years and played for head coaches John Bonamego and Jim McElwain. Lazzaro also appeared in the New Mexico Bowl following the regional championship.
Additionally, he followed his passion for four years before graduating from Central Michigan University with an entrepreneurship degree.
Lazzaro enlisted in the United States Army following his father and grandfather’s footsteps. During his college years, the quarterback didn’t reveal much about his relationship details.
Similarly, he seemed more focused on building his career than being with someone. Many assumed that Lazzaro might have planned to settle in the future, but fate took him away at 27.
Meanwhile, his obituary didn’t mention details about his potential wife and stated that his parents, Tom and Lisa, and his sister, Lexie, survived Tommy Lazzaro.
Tommy Lazzaro was fatally hit by a stray round in Eglin’s hunting range!
Lazzaro took his final breath on December 22, 2024, at Eglin Air Force after a hunting accident. Reports suggested that a soldier accidentally shot him without any ill intention from the parties involved.
The incident took place at a popular hunting location, and a spokesperson for the 7th Special Forces Group identified Lazzaro’s body. According to the reports, Lazzaro was driving in the range when the incident occurred.
Further, the former quarterback was on his way to help a fellow soldier who was having trouble with his car. After the shot, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene for investigation.
People have described Lazzaro’s passing as a tragic incident inside the military base. His fellow soldiers praised the late soldier as a dedicated, courageous, and committed military member.
Similarly, Col. Patrick Nelson wrote in a public statement, “Lazzaro’s absence leaves a void that will be felt among those who had the honor of working with him. Out heartfelt condolences extend to his family and comrades.“
After graduating, Lazzaro received a contract to go directly into the Special Forces. While in the 7th Forces, he had risen above the ranks and created a good reputation.
Regardless, the soldier made sure to give equal time to his family, who were hoping for his return during the holiday season. However, they were unfortunate to receive his unresponsive body instead.
All the parties involved in the incident have been cooperating with the authorities to prepare an official report on Lazzaro’s demise.
