Former Auburn linebacker Chette Williams was in the process of planting a church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, when he first met his future wife, Lakeba Hibbler, in the 90s.
At the time, while Chette Williams had just completed Master of Divinity, his now-wife Lakeba was studying at the Southern University. The two instantly clicked, started seeing each other, and eventually married after some time.
From their marriage, they welcomed three children: two daughters, Lauren and Caitlyn, and a son, Chette LaRue Williams Jr.
But among three, his son Chette Jr. is no longer alive now. He tragically lost his life at the age of 19 in 2019 in a DeKalb County gas station.

According to DeKalb County police, Chette’s teenage son tried to steal from the 32-year-old man, who was pumping gas, threatening him by pointing a firearm. But things didn’t go as Chette Jr. thought. Authorities said,
“The 32-year-old pulled out his own g*n, and when Williams fired, the man fired back, hitting Williams.”
