Drew Afualo, an American influencer, podcaster, and author, recently opened up about getting fired from the NFL.
In a March 18, 2024, podcast show of Whitney Cummings, Drew Aualo explained why the NFL fired her from her social media job.
Furthermore, Drew Afualo began the conversation by stating, “I worked for the NFL for a while, yeah. I did like social media and stuff.“
When Whitney asked the social media influencer why the NFL fired her, Drew Afualo replied that it happened because the NFL wasn’t what she thought it would be like.
Drew added that the work environment wasn’t good; she knew it would be hard because she worked in sports in college and was a sports editor of her school newspaper, but it was completely different.
NFL made her cover up harassment claims, and it was horrible working there.
However, Drew stated that her departure from the NFL was the best thing that happened to her as she started building her career in Tiktok and other platforms, becoming a renowned social media influencer.
Drew Afualo began her Tiktok career back in 2020!
After the NFL fired Drew Afualo, she started focusing on her content creation journey.
She joined TikTok in March 2020 after her boyfriend encouraged her to pursue a career as a content creator, inspired by her Snapchat rants about college life.
Likewise, initially, Drew ran the account casually, posting personal dating stories for a smaller audience before a video in which she listed “very specific red flags in men” went viral in early 2021.
The video soon garnered people’s attention worldwide and eventually increased her followers from 1.5 million to 4 million in just two months.
Drew currently has over 8 million followers on TikTok, over 1 million followers on Twitter, and 1.1 million followers on Instagram.
Moreover, her TikTok videos typically consist of her responding to making and roasting men who express misogynistic, fatphobic, racist, and otherwise bigoted views.
She has also earned several nicknames, such as “Crusader for Women,” “Defender of Women,” and “Queen of the Roasts.”
In addition to her Tiktok career, Drew Afualo also hosts the podcast The Comment Section, with Drew Afualo initially created in 2021 for Brat TV’s Past Your Bedtime YouTube channel.
The podcast consists of her interviewing fellow content creators and media figures about feminist issues, misogyny, and empowerment.
Similarly, Drew and her sister Deison co-host the podcast Two Idiot Girls, discussing topics such as media representation of minorities, racism, and mental health.
