Alperen Sengun began playing basketball at the young age of 8
Growing up in an athlete family, the NBA star began playing basketball at eight.
Moreover, he began his basketball journey with Gresun University in 2012 and played youth system basketball with the sports club’s youth teams until 2014.
With his exceptional basketball skills, it didn’t take him long to begin his professional career.
In 2014, he joined the Turkish professional basketball club Banvit, now Bandirma, where he won several honorable titles, including the Turkish Basketball Youth League championship and the Turkish Youth League MVP.
Likewise, after years of experience with Banivt, he joined Bandırma Kırmızı of the second-division Turkish First League in 2018.
Sengun further joined the first-division Turkish Super League club Teksüt Bandırma for the 2019-20 BSL season, averaging 5.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game in 22 games.
Furthermore, Sengun signed a three-year contract with the Turkish club Beşiktaş in August 2020 before being drafted by the Houston Rockets in the 2021 NBA draft.
